A man pleaded guilty Monday to threatening to cut off someone’s head with a machete in Newton County, authorities said.

Tyler Nehl, 36, of Covington, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and terroristic threats before facing a jury trial, the Newton County District Attorney's Office said in a Facebook post.

He was sentenced to 10 years with the first two years to be served in prison, the post said.

According to Newton County Jail records, he was arrested on September 26, 2017, and has remained in jail since.

Cobb man forced woman into her van, raped her in 3 locations Andrew Head, 27, has been in Cobb County Jail since Sunday for approaching a woman at a Roswell Road strip mall plaza, choking and raping her, according to a police warrant. Documents show Head demanded money, forced the woman into her van and drove a half-mile away to Banberry Road, then to 180 Cobb Parkway and lastly, to South Marietta Parkway. He had made a bed out of blankets in the back of her van, where he raped her at all three locations.
