A north Florida woman who reportedly bragged on social media that her 4-year-old son “likes to target shoot” is in the hospital after the child shot her in the back Tuesday.

In a case that has gotten international attention, Jamie Gilt, 31, of Jacksonville, Fla., is in stable condition in a Gainesville, Fla., hospital after the incident, according to The Florida-Times Union.

“Even my 4-year-old likes to target shoot,” Gilt reportedly posted on a Facebook page called Jamie Gilt for Gun Sense. (The page is no longer available to the public.)

The child reportedly fired a .45-caliber handgun that he found on the floor of the truck into the back of the driver’s seat. The gunshot apparently went through Gilt’s back and out the other side. The woman and her son were reportedly en route to pick up a horse from the woman’s sister when the shooting happened.

Gilt currently is medically unable to be interviewed. The child was released to his grandmother, and is believed to be back in Jacksonville with his father, according to reports.
