An Atlanta man remains in jail after what seemed like a simple traffic stop near a Cobb County elementary school led to a drug bust.
More than 50 packets of crack cocaine were found stuffed in Levern Pompey’s pants Wednesday when Powder Springs police pulled over him, his girlfriend and two children near Compton Elementary School, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The officer put on his lights behind Pompey’s girlfriend car, pulled her over and smelled marijuana.
"That's when the officer made contact with the front passenger and that's when he smelled an even stronger smell of marijuana," Powder Springs police Officer Justin Arndt told Channel 2.
More than six grams were found on Pompey.
Police believe the couple were dropping the children off at school, the news station reported.
Pompey was charged with selling drugs withing 1,000 feet of a school.
