Moved by the plight of a mentally disabled man jailed for more than two months because he couldn’t afford to pay the bond, a businessman has stepped forward to help.

Police said Torin Davenport, 24, died after an attack by three men. Davenport died Oct. 30 in an assisted living facility, according to law enforcement. His death was ruled a homicide this week by the medical examiner's office. Bruce McDaye, Kenneth Calloway and Elton Calloway were arrested on murder charges. Police said the men attacked Davenport in retribution for an assault he allegedly did on his wife. All three are relatives of Davenport's wife, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said.
