A 24-year-old man has been charged with a violent shooting spree that killed a DeKalb County father and injured two Atlanta drivers.

Mikael Callaway is in custody in connection with shootings that left two people injured Thursday, Atlanta police said.

Mikeal Demond Callaway has been charged with murder, attempting to elude an officer, reckless driving and speeding, according to booking records. Investigators believe Callaway shot and killed a father in front of his family early Thursday. Nicholas Bankston, 24, was returning home from a birthday celebration when he was killed.

Late Thursday, the Georgia State Patrol said Callaway and an unidentified female were being investigated to determine if they were involved in two shootings that left two drivers injured in less than two hours.

Friday afternoon, Atlanta police said Callaway has also been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, criminal damage, burglary, and thefty by taking. In addition to two Atlanta shootings, Callaway is suspected of burglary earlier in the week.
