A Douglas County man pleaded guilty this week to murdering his on-again, off-again girlfriend.

Rodriquis Martin was sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years for the death of Katrina Galloway, a 38-year-old mother of two, according to a statement on the Douglas County District Attorney's Office's Facebook page.

On Nov. 24, 2017, Martin allegedly broke into Galloway’s Douglasville home, upset over her decision to end their relationship. He then entered Galloway’s bedroom and stabbed her repeatedly in the chest, which led to her death, officials said.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, as Martin was leaving the residence he told Galloway’s two daughters that their mother was fine.

When deputies arrived, Galloway was breathing but unresponsive. Her eldest daughter was attempting to administer aid, according to the incident report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Galloway’s mother and younger daughter were also in the house at the time of the incident, according to a statement from Douglas County Sheriff’s Office official Gregory Ashcraft.

"Nothing will ever bring Katrina back to those loved ones, but this sentence will ensure the defendant be punished for the pain he has inflicted and the loss he has caused them,” Douglas County District Attorney Ryan Leonard said in the statement on Facebook.
