A Florida charter school was placed on lockdown for about an hour Wednesday after a student threatened to open fire, according to police and multiple news reports.

Authorities responded to Canoe Creek Charter Academy in Osceola County, but found no weapon.

Police said there is no imminent danger to the public.

The student was not identified but is likely going to face charges, according to reports by Fox35 News in Orlando.

The St. Cloud Police Department lifted the lockdown about 10:20 a.m.

The department initially issued a public service announcement on Twitter about an hour earlier Wednesday, saying the school was being locked down “for the safety of all students and staff as officers investigate.”

Authorities took more than an hour to reveal the nature of the threat. The department said it planned to issue a press release later about the incident.

No injuries or casualties were reported.

About 30 minutes after police issued the alert, officers were reported on the scene.

A reporter with Fox35 Orlando said the situation began with a 911 call to the sheriff's office around 8:45 a.m.

By 10:15 a.m. the station reported that the lockdown was being lifted
