The smell of baked pies and barbecue will waft through the air at Auburnfest this year.

Auburn, a small city on the edge of Barrow and Gwinnett counties, will host its 23rd annual fall festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 23 . The downtown festival will include craft vendors, food, live music and activities for kids.

The event will include competitions for canning, crocheting, knitting, quilting and pie baking. The city will also host its annual Trains and Flames Backyard BBQ Competition during the festival.

Entry forms for all competitions are available on the City of Auburn’s website, and vendors can sign up here. The festival will take place at 1369 Fourth Avenue.
