Spring has nearly come and gone and the 84th annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival did not go on as planned. However, organizers plan to host the celebration of arts and entertainment in the summer instead.
Now, the Piedmont Park arts festival will be Aug 7-9. Live music, international entertainment, amusement rides, youth art events and children’s activities are still on schedule for the free-to-enter event.

"We are thrilled to have found a new date to continue the annual tradition of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival," Brian Hill, festival executive director said in March of the new dates according to On Common Ground. "We appreciate the efforts by the City of Atlanta administration, as well as the openness of the World Diversity & Inclusion Festival, in working with us to find an alternative to cancelling this year's event. We look forward to being able to bring a much-needed celebration to our city and continue the beloved tradition of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival."
Attendees can expect to see regular events including the Art Throwdown competition, canine-friendly Disc Dogs, a US Disc Dog Nationals world finals qualifier competition, and the Mimosa 5K.

On Common Ground reported festival organizers said they’re optimistic that the August date will provide enough time for recovery from the coronavirus outbreak. Noting that the safety of festival attendees, artists, vendors and participants is a top priority, organizers plan to keep working closely with the City of Atlanta to track the coronavirus outbreak as the 200,000-person outdoor event draws near.
