Atlanta Gas Light has an existing 6-inch distribution pipeline that runs along the south side of McGinnis Ferry Road in Suwanee for about 3 miles from the intersection of Scales Road to the intersection of Old Atlanta Road. AGL has determined that this 6-inch pipe segment must be supplemented with an additional 12-inch pipe segment to meet the needs of Suwanee customers.
To make this happen, AGL determined the most feasible location for the new pipe segment is primarily within the McGinnis Ferry Road right-of-way on the north side of McGinnis Ferry Road.
The Suwanee City Council recently approved a $109,300 settlement from Atlanta Gas Light for the permanent and temporary easements needed along McGinnis Ferry Road to make this happen.
According to city documents, efforts will be made to keep sidewalks open as long as possible and safe during the construction process which is expected to begin in summer of 2022.
