Easter is quickly approaching, which means yellow peeps, chocolate bunnies and foods to fill Sunday’s dinner table are flying off the shelves. Americans plan to spend $20.8 billion on the holiday this year, roughly $170 per person celebrating, according to the personal-finance website WalletHub.

However, money isn’t everything. Some will feel the religious —and commercial — holiday more than others, depending on where they live. WalletHub conducted research to determine which cities have the best Easter celebrations, and the results were published in their 2022 report.

To identify those areas, WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities based on 13 metrics ranging from candy and chocolate stores per capita to the city’s Christian population to weather.

They discovered that the best place to celebrate Easter is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with Atlanta ranking 13th on the list. Atlanta leads Las Vegas, Nashville, and Miami but falls behind Birmingham, Buffalo, and Honolulu.

Here’s how Atlanta ranked in several areas, with 1=Best, 50=Avg.

  • Percentage of Christian population: 50th
  • Candy and chocolate stores per capita: 18th
  • Churches per capita: 29th
  • Flower and gift shops per capita: 5th
  • Weather forecast: 27th

Along with its rankings, WalletHub estimated that 45% of Americans are planning to spend more on Easter this year than in 2021.

WalletHub also found that 78% percent of people eat chocolate bunnies’ ears first.
