The Southeast Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art plans the ninth annual Philip Trammell Shutze Awards event for 6 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Piedmont Driving Club. The event chair is Angela Smith.
Named for renowned Atlanta architect and classicist Philip Trammell Shutze, the awards recognize excellence in classic architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, urban design and craftsmanship.
"We had a wonderful jury this year. They were quite impressed with the quality of the entries," said Michelle Moody, president of the 2015 Southeast ICAA board of trustees. "I think that with such a strong field of competitors, they had some difficult decisions to make."
Judges, including Bunny Williams, Christine G.H. Franck and Tim Barber, will select winners for small and large scale in the categories of single-family residential, multifamily residential, commercial, civic, urban design, institutional, interior design, artisanship/craftmanship, renovation, landscape/garden design and patronage.
Tickets are $130 each for members and $175 for nonmembers. See classicist-se.org/award/shutze-awards for more information.

Dining with De Niro
Robert De Niro is in town filming a movie that we hope gets a new name before it hits theaters. At the moment, it's "Dirty Grandpa," also starring Zac Efron. It's about a guy who takes his lewd old grandpop down to Florida for spring break. De Niro has exquisite taste in dining even if he may have experimental taste in movie projects. He's been spotted at Umi, where he delighted in the chef's omakase menu; and Le Bilboquet, where he sampled grilled calamari.
