If you like your shorts denim and your festivals accessible for all people, there's a fest happening Saturday just for you.
JORTSFEST 2016, that is.
Yes, jorts aka jean shorts will be all the rage at the fourth annual music and arts festival, which begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Mammal Gallery in South downtown Atlanta. Bands performing include World's Best Dad, TheWild, Psuedo Color and many others, according to the event website.
"For the past three years, we've brought in national and local performers to celebrate the end of summer and everyone's favorite summer attire — jorts," Maria Sotnikova, co-founder of the event said in a promotional video. Funds raised, "will allow patrons and performers with disabilities to access previously inaccessible venues."
The festival's motto — "Always free, Always all ages, Always accessible" — speaks to the organizers desire to offer an event that meets Americans with Disabilities Act standards, offers transit accessibility and affordability for all incomes, according to the JORTSFEST website.
Prior to the event, supporters helped raised more than $3,500 toward a portable ramp that could be used at other festivals through JORTSFEST's Kickstarter campaign.
