How I got into this: "I had the opportunity to work as a nurse extern on the oncology floor at NSH when I was a senior nursing student."

Best part of the job: "My co-workers. They make a stressful day easier to deal with."

What people don't know about my job: "Nursing is not all about giving medications. It is a holistic practice."

What keeps me going: "When patients are genuinely appreciative of the care they are receiving from Northside Hospital, I am thankful for my job at this organization."

Preparation needed: "BSN is two years of undergraduate study and two years of nursing school. They must pass the NCLEX after graduation. Nurses must retain [their] license and CEUs to practice in Georgia. Nurses must be prepared mentally, emotionally and physically for the demands of the nursing career."

Salary: "49,000 a year."
