Atlanta-based law firm Troutman Sanders said Monday that retiring Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff will join the firm in January.

Shurtleff, a Republican who served as Utah’s top lawyer for three terms, will join Troutman Sanders’ Washington, D.C.-based State Attorneys General unit.

“Mark’s addition will strengthen and enhance Troutman Sanders’ state regulatory expertise in a number of areas, including privacy, data security, state consumer protection issues and matters involving the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,” Ashley L. Taylor, Jr., head of Troutman Sanders’ State Attorneys General team, said in a news release.
