New home sales mixed in October

New home sales in the South declined between September and October, according to data from the U.S. Census and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, while sales rose nationally.

Sales in the South dropped from 169,000 in September to 153,000 in October, down 9.5 percent.

Nationally sales rose from 303,000 to 307,000 during the same time period, up 1.3 percent.
