An Atlanta tech startup that enables using images to find and order industrial and other replacement parts won a $100,000 investment from AOL co-founder Steve Case.

Partpic was one of eight companies pitching in a Midtown contest put on by Case and judged by him and local tech players. The company, which has its system in beta testing, already had commitments for $1 million from other investors. But Jewel Burks, Partpic's chief executive and co-founder along with Jason Crain, said having Case as a backer is huge given his experience turning a startup into an online giant. Burks won after making a four-minute pitch on stage and answering a few quick questions.

“She struck me as a rising star,” Case said.
