It's day 38! You can almost smell Sine Die, scheduled for Thursday. It smells like ... desperation, panic and a little bit of anger.
Both chambers are in at 10 a.m. The Senate has put 28 bills on its floor calendar, although there's no guarantee it will get through all of them (although it does portend the chamber working into the evening).
The biggest is House Bill 338, the erstwhile school takeover bill.
The chamber has also scheduled House Rules Chairman John Meadows' fracking bill, HB 205, after several days' delay. The bill creates the first new fracking regulations in Georgia in a generation.
The House only has eight bills on its floor calendar, although that number could grow as the Rules Committee meets at 9 a.m.
Of the eight already planned, SB 219 might be the most interesting. It would regulate self-driving cars in Georgia. And no, we don't mean the ones we already have with drivers doing anything but paying attention. Think Google and the like. Rep. Trey Kelley, R-Cedartown, is carrying the bill on behalf of Sen. Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega. Kelley sponsored a similar House bill.
