Less than two weeks before Republican primary voters hit the polls, where exactly does U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson stand among Georgians?
Better than where the two-term incumbent was in January, according to a new poll commissioned by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and certainly miles ahead of the rest of Congress.
But Isakson still has a lot of ground to cover: he's far below the 50 percent approval mark and roughly one-third of Georgians surveyed did not know him (or withheld sharing their views), according to the survey. Georgians' overwhelming discontent with Capitol Hill -- 74 percent disapprove of the job Congress has been doing -- could also have the risk of rubbing off on the two-term incumbent, who still enjoys an overwhelming advantage in terms of campaign funds and name recognition when compared to his opponents.
