Cross another week off the calendar.

And here to help us with those duties are "Shovels and Rope," an ominous band name that evokes something out of Faulkner by way of the Coen brothers. In this case, though, it refers to a husband-and-wife duo out of South Carolina. They play country music, and by that I do not mean what those folks in Nashville mean when they say "country music," bless their hearts.

I mean this:

Have a great weekend, everybody. It's Music Midtown time, and the town ought to be rocking. Oh, and BTW, Shovels and Rope are booked to play the Georgia Theater in Athens on Oct. 10. The Dawgs are out of town that weekend, playing in Missouri, so a trip to the Classic City for a little music just might be doable.
