This has been a different type of year in the Congress, as Republicans in the House set out a new schedule that has them working less than in past years - and 2012 will be no different.

The schedule for U.S. House sessions was announced today by House Majority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), and it gives members ample time to get home each weekend to campaign for their re-election bids.

Here's the schedule in graphic form - the days in brown are the days that the House will be in session.

If you look carefully, you will notice that the House is slated to be in session for very few 5-day weeks; in fact, there are only two full weeks scheduled, one in September and one in October.

Otherwise, four days weeks are the norm, with a few three day weeks thrown in there as well.
