Tuesday is on track to be the hottest day of the year so far, according to the latest forecast.
“We’ve got some sun on the way for you,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
Monahan predicts a high temperature of 93 degrees in Atlanta for the second day of the work week, with sunshine during nearly all of the daylight hours.
“The hottest stretch of the year is here,” he said.
The morning is off to a comfortable start, with temperatures hovering around 71 degrees throughout metro Atlanta. That will change as the day goes on, Monahan said.
“These temperatures are quickly going to climb into the 70s, 80s and into the 90s in the afternoon,” he said.
By 2 p.m., temperatures will be near the predicted high. It will feel even hotter, with humidity at 90%.
“Just dress and be ready for that hot weather,” Monahan said.
There are no trouble spots on metro Atlanta interstates, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
“You couldn’t ask for better on a Tuesday morning,” WSB traffic reporter Mark McKay said.
