Rains that had earlier missed metro Atlanta made it to north Fulton and Cobb counties late Tuesday.
The National Weather Service issued a Thunderstorm warning for Fulton and Forsyth counties that ended at 10:45 p.m.
About 10 p.m., heavy rains and lightning inched into the metro area, Channel 2 Action News reported. A 20 percent chance of rain was predicted earlier.
The metro area remained relatively dry through the day, with temperatures in the 80s. Scattered showers largely stayed in the North Georgia mountains.
There is a 30 percent chance of rain Wednesday when thunderstorms are predicted to enter the metro area about lunchtime, Channel 2 reported.
Most showers will stay just north of I-20.
Currently, the temperature is 79 degrees. The high was expected to reach 88, Channel 2 reported.
Highs are expected to reach the high 80s Wednesday with parts of Georgia reaching 90-degree temperatures.
