Atlanta is expected to have a stretch of rain after a week of dry, humid weather.
Much of Friday has seen temperatures in the 90s and reached the expected high of 94 degrees, Channel 2 Action News reported. And that’s good news for the air quality.
Metro Atlanta's air quality is in a Code Orange, a level that is unhealthy for sensitive groups, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. As temperatures rise, the air quality could diminish, Channel 2 reported. The current temperatures is 80 degrees.
Air quality becomes unhealthy for sensitive groups when the Air Quality Index is between 101 and 150, according to the EPA. The Air Quality Index is 101.
Children, teenagers, elderly adults and people with lung disease or asthma are encouraged to reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.
Light rains were reported in southwest Cobb County on Friday evening, according to Channel 2, but they did not lead to widespread rains.
Rain is in store for this weekend and is expected to continue into next week.
Wake up weather for Saturday should be dry with lows in the mid 70s, Channel 2 reported. Isolated showers are expected on and off through the afternoon with rains tapering off by 10 p.m.
Highs should stay in the mid 90s and remain that way through Sunday, which should see a 40 percent chance of rain.
Rain chances increase to 60 percent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with high temps dipping to 89 degress, the average for this time of year, according to Channel 2.

"Good" AQI is 0 to 50. Air quality is considered satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no risk.
"Moderate" AQI is 51 to 100. Air quality is acceptable; however, for some pollutants there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of people. For example, people who are unusually sensitive to ozone may experience respiratory symptoms.
"Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" AQI is 101 to 150. Although the general public is not likely to be affected at this range, people with lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk from exposure to ozone, whereas persons with heart and lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk from the presence of particles in the air.
"Unhealthy" AQI is 151 to 200. Everyone may begin to experience some adverse health effects, and members of the sensitive groups may experience more serious effects.
"Very Unhealthy" is AQI is 201 to 300. This would trigger a health alert signifying that everyone may experience more serious health effects.
“Hazardous” AQI is greater than 300. This would trigger a health warning of emergency conditions. The entire population is more likely to be affected.
