Hundreds of people responded to five siblings’ plea to be adopted together.
On March 11, the Kansas City Star reported about five siblings in Kansas who were seeking a permanent home.
The newspaper profiled the siblings, three boys and two girls: 11-year-old Bradley, 10-year-old Preston, 8-year-old Layla, 6-year-old Landon and 2-year-old Olive.
“These five siblings are in need of a loving family with an abundance of love, energy, kindness and patience,” the newspaper reported.
Bradley was described as a music lover. Preston is an animal lover. Layla loves to dance. Landon loves to run. And 2-year-old Olive “loves to be cuddled and held … when she slows down long enough.”
Since sharing the story, the Kansas Children's Service League, which contracts with the state and runs the Adopt Kansas Kids website, has gotten a large response. The organization's email was clogged with 1,500 people expressing interest in adopting the five children, and its voicemail was filled to the max.[
"This is a viral response ... and it's pretty insane," Corey Lada, of the Kansas Children's Service League, told the Kansas City Star. "In 13-plus years of working here, I've seen nothing like this."
"This is the most attention any single child or sibling set has received," Theresa Freed, communications director for the Kansas Department for Children and Families, told ABC News on Wednesday.
“We’ve identified some possible families who may be a good fit,” she said.
The Children’s Service League says they are thrilled with the response and are looking forward to finding the kids a good home.
Lada said workers are hoping to find a family based in Kansas to adopt the children.
ABC News reported that the listing for the siblings has been pulled from the Adopt Kansas Kids website due to the amount of responses.
