Two North Carolina Panthers fans are hoping a highway sign indicates a Super Bowl victory for their team.
Longtime Carolina Panthers fan Jason Smith snapped a photo of a green North Carolina Department of Transportation sign that read "Newton 20, Denver 7."
Within days, the photo of the sign off Highway 16 heading to Denver, North Carolina, was shared on Facebook more than 34,000 times.
Although the sign says Newton is 20 miles away and Denver is 7 miles away, Smith believes it's a prediction for Sunday's Super Bowl 50 when the Panthers take on the Denver Broncos.
Quarterback Cam Newton leads the Panthers, who have a 17-1 record this season and postseason.
Smith captioned the Facebook post, "A sign from the football gods. Go Panthers."
Another Panthers fan, Kevin Swalis, saw a different predictive highway sign that read "Denver 12, Newton 25."
He stopped and snapped a picture, sharing it with his friends.
But both signs are simply highway markers indicating the miles to North Carolina cities.
Time will tell who wins the Super Bowl.
