Former Alabama quarterback Blake Sims, of Gainesville, who is considered a developmental pro prospect met with the Atlanta Falcons at the scouting combine.

“I have talked to Philly, Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas, New York Giants and Tampa Bay,” Sims said. “They were very proud of the way that I overcame a lot of things at Alabama, and what my story was. They didn’t know a lot of guys that would have done what I did, coming from running back and going straight to quarterback for my last year.”

The Falcons carried three quarterbacks last season in Matt Ryan, T.J. Yates and Sean Renfree.

Sims is one of 11 former Alabama players participating in the Combine. He’s one of 15 quarterbacks invited. It’s the lowest number of quarterbacks to be invited since 2002 when 14 received invitations.
