Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford takes us behind enemy lines.
Bradford, the former No. 1 pick by the St. Louis Rams in 2010, was traded to the Eagles in the offseason.
He believes he’s a perfect for Eagles coach Chip Kelly’s fast-paced offense.
“It’s something that I learned in college,” Bradford said. “We played a lot of the no-huddle my last couple of years at Oklahoma. I think it’s something that I really got accustomed to, and I really enjoyed playing at a face pace.”
The Eagles like to run plays in rapid succession.
“I think it puts a lot of pressure on the defense,” Bradford said. “They’ve got to get their calls in. They have to be ready as opposed to when you huddle and kind of give them a chance to catch their breath and get set again.”
Bradford’s favorite weapon might be Jordan Matthews, who at 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds, is a load as a slot receiver. He had 67 catches as a rookie as the Eagles’ top third-down and red-zone receiver in 2014.
“I’ve never really had a big receiver in the slot like that,” Bradford said. “Obviously, he’s not your typical slot receiver. Most of your slot receivers are smaller, quicker type guys. He’s a bigger and more rangy receiver. … When we are throwing verticals or trying to push the ball down the field, I feel like I have a bigger target area with him.”
