The exhibit: The "Kia Building a Champion" gallery focuses on the serious work of building the game — and winning games.

Touring it: There's a lot of emphasis here on coaching, including a digital copy of legendary coach John Heisman's playbook, a mural of coaches by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution editorial cartoonist Mike Luckovich and an interactive in which current and former coaches tutor fans on various formations and plays. ("If you like points on the board, then I've got a formation just for you," South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says on the screen.) There's also a large display case on the evolution of equipment. And there's the first penalty flag, which was thrown in 1941, replacing the use of horns and whistles to signal fouls.

Talking about it: "We can only guess (the year of the Heisman playbook), but we feel it is from late in his career," Hall of Fame curator and historian Kent Stephens said. Heisman's coaching career ended in 1927. "I got the playbook from a relative also named John Heisman," Stephens said. "We selected several plays, scanned them and returned the book to Mr. Heisman."
