New Jersey residents weren't amused after Gov. Chris Christie and his family were photographed on a state beach during a recent government shutdown. And while many confined their gripes to the internet, at least one person took his complaints to the heavens.
According to NJ.com, a banner plane spotted over the Jersey Shore on Monday bore the message, "Tell Gov. Christie: Get the hell off Island Beach State Park" – a riff on Christie's famous press conference before Hurricane Irene came ashore in 2011. In that press conference, Christie warned people to evacuate, telling them to "get the hell off the beach."
The cheeky banner was met with cheers and applause from onlookers. In a video posted to Facebook by Jersey Shore Hurricane News, beachgoers are audibly applauding the fly-by sign. One man says, "That's great!"
The New York Daily News reported that political consultant Joshua Henne paid for the ad.
"The banner speaks for itself," he told the outlet.
