Woman paralyzed in Buckhead bar assault

More than two weeks have passed since a 38-year-old Atlanta woman was paralyzed in a bar assault. But police said Tuesday no arrests have been made.

The woman’s family told police she was dropped on her head at Wet Willie’s in Buckhead early Aug. 3, according to a police report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The victim was at the bar with friends when an unknown man approached her and grabbed her around her waist and tried to lift her up, without her consent, the report states. The woman “told the man ‘no’ repeatedly,” the report states.

The man lifted her anyway, but then dropped the woman on her head and fell on top of her, according to police. The woman was unable to move any of her extremities and was transported to Atlanta Medical Center, where she was being treated for serious injuries and paralysis, the report states.

On Aug. 6, the victim’s sister reported the alleged assault to police, who started an investigation. The victim’s sister declined to discuss the assault when contacted Monday by The AJC.

No suspects have been identified, Sgt. Greg Lyon with Atlanta police said.
