A neighborhood association sent a letter to families in the Deerwood area on Monday, warning them that a large python had been spotted in the trees at Deerwood Playground in Jacksonville.
“That’s scary,” resident Jacob Schwender said.
Schwender said he lives nearby and wonders where the snake could be.
“They're dangerous. They're not the normal-sized snake,” Schwender said.
Action News Jax called the management office of the Deerwood Improvement Association, which sent out the letter. Officials there would not comment.
The message to Deerwood families said pythons are not venomous, but warned parents to be watchful.
