It’s not the first time a driver has tried to ride in the HOV lane with a cardboard cutout, but a man in Washington has taken the concept to a whole new level.

The Washington Post reports that a driver was recently pulled over by a Washington State Patrol trooper who spotted something strange about the passenger in a car driving in the HOV lane.

It turns out that the passenger was a cardboard cutout of “The Most Interesting Man in the World,” who has become an Internet meme after starring in Dos Equis beer ads.

According to The Washington Post report, the driver told the trooper that the cardboard figure was his best friend.

While the trooper did find humor in the driver’s creative ruse, he still issued the driver a $124 ticket for violating HOV lane laws.

He later tweeted about it: "I don't always violate the HOV lane law ... but when I do, I get a $124 ticket!"
