Alligator season has just gotten underway in South Carolina, and already someone has made a big catch.
Make that a really big catch.
The 13-and-a-half-foot alligator weighs 755 pounds, according to Claussen Alligator and Deer Processing in Florence.
The company says it was caught in Lake Marion using a rod and reel, snatch hook and bang stick.
While the photos of the giant gator are impressive, it is far from a record-breaking specimen.
According to Claussen Alligator and Deer Processing, the state record is 14 feet and 1,023 pounds.
Alligator-hunting season in South Carolina runs through Oct. 10.
