North Georgians are in for delightful conditions on Sunday, as warm temperatures and low humidity bring us one step closer to typical fall weather.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said the day is off to a pleasant start, calling it a “gorgeous morning just to take in that fall refreshing air.”

Temperatures are falling in the low 60s and high 50s across North Georgia, with a good amount of sunshine to start the day. The humidity is on the low side, lingering around 70%, Deon said.

As the day progresses, temperatures will increase into the 80s. However, the humidity will remain low, allowing the air to feel a bit cooler and crisper, Deon said.

“No matter what your plans are, make sure you get outside and enjoy it,” she said.

By 10 a.m., temperatures will rise to 75 degrees. By noon, they’ll hit 81 before increasing to the day’s high of 87 degrees. There is no chance of precipitation in the forecast.

The warm, dry weather means road construction projects will resume around Atlanta after a Labor Day hiatus.

Lanes on I-20 in both directions will experience rolling overnight lane closures from Windsor Street out to Sweetwater Creek in Douglas County. Farther north, Birmingham Highway will see lane closures up to the Cherokee County line as resurfacing work continues.

Lane closures will also be installed on Langford Parkway for restriping. On I-85 North between Midtown and Clairmont Road, lane closures will be installed to replace pavement markings. Between Lindbergh and Buckhead, a busy stretch of Piedmont Road will see lane closures thanks to Atlanta Gas Light work.

As usual, expect lane closures and changing traffic patterns around the junction of Ga. 400 and I-285 as the Transform 285/400 project continues.
