Here’s a movie pitch: A shuttered army base in Atlanta becomes a residential war zone featuring a willful mayor, a superstar filmmaker, neighborhood activists, the chattering class and residents flat worn-out from the feuding. Welcome to Fort McPherson. Today, a state senator calls out Mayor Kasim Reed for scripting a backroom deal with movie mogul Tyler Perry. The executive director of the redevelopment authority defends the partnership. And a resident of the area bemoans years of unfulfilled promises for the fort while welcoming the latest plan that is hoped will lift her neighborhood.
