Margaret Strickland is happy to be alive after coming close to death 8 months ago.

Thursday, Strickland surprised the public safety communicators who answered her husband’s 911 call for help last October.

"She just had an operation,” Richard Strickland told a 911 dispatcher. “I think she took the wrong medicine."

“Oh, my goodness,” the dispatcher said. “OK, and what's your name?”

Richard Strickland said his wife had heart surgery and grabbed the wrong pill that night.

Strickland said she owes her life to the people who took the 911 call.

She said the 911 call was answered quickly, and got the ambulance to her within minutes.

She surprised them with awards and words of kindness.

“If it wasn't for the persistence of your team, I wouldn't be here to enjoy this time with my family,” Strickland said.

She said complete strangers felt like meeting family.

She said she now has an emotional bond with them that will never go away.
