Strangers can be so critical. You can either run and cry, or confront them, killing them with kindness.
Dianne Hoffmeyer was at a Michigan Tim Hortons when two middle-aged women were commenting on her looks.
One said, "Oh, look at her hair. It's nasty looking and the roots are coming through," Hoffmeyer told WXYZ.
She said they continued, "Oh, she's a whale. Oh, the whale needs to eat."
The insults hit home, Hoffmeyer said. She recently lost 177 pounds, but the women did not know that since they had never met, WXYZ reported.
She did what almost any other person being insulted would do. Hoffmeyer started to cry. What she also did was what has gone viral - she paid for the women's coffee and left to cry in her car.
Hoffmeyer told WXYZ that she wanted to set a better example for her children, paying it forward rather than confronting the pair.
She said if she meets them again, or if they happen to see her Facebook post, she'd like to talk to them and explain how it made her feel, all over a cup of coffee.
