Dozens of people attended a candlelight vigil Saturday night in honor of the little girl at the center of the mysterious "Baby Doe" case.
The vigil was held on Deer Island, where the unidentified toddler's body was found last month. This case has upset Debbie Larson so much that she organized the vigil.
“It was heart breaking. I cannot believe anybody would do this to a child," she said.
State Police were pleased with the plans and hoped the vigil will keep Baby Doe on the top of people's minds. Even though her photo has reached over 50 million people online, no one has come forward with any information about her.
"Hopefully somebody will recognize her, a nanny, a pediatrician or a daycare, somebody," Larson said.
State police hope someone will finally come forward to help identify her. Both an anonymous text tipline and a phone hotline have been created for people who may know who she is.
A dog walker discovered her body in a trash bag at the end of June.
A computer-generated image of the girl, estimated to be 4 years old, with brown hair and brown eyes, flooded social media and billboards, but investigators still don't know her name. Investigators continue the search for her identity, and are constantly eliminating possibilities.
A complete DNA profile of Baby Doe was recently completed, but a comparison to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's database turned up no matches. Her profile now goes to a lab in Texas for more extensive testing.
