‘That is maligning Waffle House’: Twitter defends restaurant after SNL joke

Alexander Rae Baldwin III is an actor, writer and comedian. He is the oldest of the four Baldwin brothers, all of whom are actors. Baldwin is known for appearing in "The Hunt for Red October" and "30 Rock." His portrayal of Donald Trump on "Saturday Night Live" became famous in its 2017 seasons. Baldwin also has famously liberal politics, supporting Democratic candidates and PETA.

Social media had strong reactions after Alec Baldwin as President Donald Trump joked about Waffle House on “Saturday Night Live.”

“I said I was going to run this country like a business. That business is a Waffle House at 2 a.m.,” Baldwin’s Trump said to in-studio applause. “Crazies everywhere, staff walking out in the middle of their shift, managers taking money out of the cash register to pay off the Russian mob.”

A quick poll of Twitter showed almost all the reactions to that joke agreed with the live studio audience.

A few people defended Waffle House, a chain of restaurants so resilient the federal government uses them to gauge the severity of natural disasters.
