After the infant was rushed to Children’s Hospital and underwent immediate surgery, medical personnel told troopers the child’s injuries were consistent with repetitive, accelerated head trauma, better known as shaken baby syndrome.

Medical experts told investigators the injuries caused the child substantial pain and likely permanent impairment.

The baby is now a year old, but is still in the hospital due to complications from the trauma.
