The Police Department in Aurora, Colorado, is on high alert after a dispatcher received a threatening message from an anonymous caller earlier this week, KDVR reported.
The caller, who was recorded, said: "It's time that you guys know we are no longer playing around with the police departments. Aurora and Denver, we are about to start striking fear, shooting down all cops that we see by theirselves (sic). This will go for the sheriff's department. You guys are evicting innocent people. Let us catch you by yourself and it's shots fired."
Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz spoke on "Good Day Colorado" Wednesday morning, telling viewers "It's something we have to take very serious. People have said to me, 'Well, police get threats all the time.' But this one's a little bit different. This is someone who really made a concerted effort to put that threat out there and really makes us sit up and take notice."
Police are still trying to find out who left the message, as police have become targets in the past few weeks.
"Just a few hours after that phone call, two of our officers were shot at. We're not sure if the two are connected, but we're not ruling it out," Metz said.
