Hilarious: Phone scammer from 'IRS' accidentally calls police officer

A telephone scammer pretending to be from the Internal Revenue Service picked the wrong person to mess with --- a lieutenant at a Georgia police department.

According to Action News Jax, the scammer called in reference to what he claimed were back taxes that needed to be paid. Immediately realizing he was dealing with a con man, the officer prodded the caller with questions, including asking where the man was located.

The scammer said he was calling from the White House and even offered to transfer the call to the president.

While the scam was easy to figure out, police say most of these types of calls are much harder and more devious. The St. Marys Police Department used the call to educate others about scams, posting the recording to their Facebook page.
