A Florida couple must register as sex offenders and could spend 15 years in prison for having sex on the beach.
According to The Associated Press, Jose Caballero, 40, and Elissa Alvarez, 20, were found guilty Monday of "lewd and lascivious exhibition" after witnesses said a 3-year-old saw the pair having sex on a crowded public beach in Bradenton, near Tampa. A video also showed the couple moving "in a sexual manner."
Defense attorneys claimed Alvarez was just dancing on Caballero in the video, but the prosecution wasn't buying it.
"She wasn't dancing," Assistant State Attorney Anthony Dafonseca said. "It's insulting your intelligence to say that she was dancing."
Because Caballero has a criminal record, officials said they will pursue a harsher sentence for him, the Bradenton Herald reports.
