A new program at the Detroit Zoo is recruiting "enthusiastic, friendly and passionate" volunteers for the spring.
WWJ reported Monday that the zoo is recruiting for what is the world's biggest penguin facility.
The Polk Penguin Conservation Center is 33,000 square feet and houses 80 penguins.
"There's going to be a huge underwater viewing area, including walking through tunnels, where penguins will be flying over your head, flying under your feet," chief life sciences officer Scott Carter said. "Penguins do fly under water. We should see penguins in the water all the time. It's going to be very exciting."
Although volunteers can work in the center, none will be allowed to handle or feed any animals.
The zoo is also seeking volunteers elsewhere in the zoo, including with polar bears at the Arctic Ring of Life and kangaroos at the Australian Outback Adventure.
The penguin exhibit opens in April.
More details can be found at the Detroit Zoo website.
