An Ohio sheriff's deputy who resigned in June after allegedly using excessive force on a mentally ill woman starts work as a deputy in another county this week.
Former Deputy Ryan Peterman's body camera shows him dragging the woman out of her home by her ankles on June 15.
Although no complaint was filed, the 15-minute body camera video prompted Wayne County Sheriff Travis Hutchinson to relieve Peterman of his duties.
Hutchison said Peterman formally resigned on June 26, 11 days after the incident.
But Peterman starts work as a road deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. Peterman worked in Holmes County as a corrections officer from 2007-2011 before moving to Wayne County.
Holmes County Sheriff Timothy Zimmerman said he was aware of the excessive force allegation but did not anticipate future problems.
