Work is beginning on improving safety and relieving a bottleneck at a western Cherokee County intersection. The $3.9 million project to improve the junction of Ga. 20 and Ga.108 is set to take about 18 months, with a completion date of July 2016. Construction Management Services of Norcross was awarded the work.
Georgia DOT spokesman Mohamed Arafa said the upgrade will re-align the intersection of the two state highways, as well as two side roads that feed into that spot, adding a right and left turn lane on Ga. 20 both east and westbound and modernizing signalization.
Arafa said no determination has been made on project detours, but that more information will be forthcoming as work progresses.
