Forsyth County encourages residents to volunteer for the 31st edition of the Lake Lanier Shore Sweep, the annual lake clean-up involving Keep Forsyth County Beautiful, the city of Cumming and the Lake Lanier Association, among others.
The event is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, Forsyth County said. Forsyth volunteers can register by calling KFCB, 770-205-4573, or by visiting keepforsythcountybeautiful.org and clicking on the calendar page.
The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. On Saturday, Sept. 14, Forsyth volunteers will meet at the Bald Ridge and Port Royale marinas to pick up supplies and T-shirts and receive instructions.
“Volunteers with boats of all types are needed,” Forsyth said. “If you have a boat and are willing to assist with the cleanup of sites with no land access, please contact KFCB.”
More than 1,000 volunteers working out of 12 locations in Forsyth, Dawson, Gwinnett and Hall counties are expected to recover 30 to 50 tons of trash, the Lake Lanier Association said. Information: https://bit.ly/2yQJIBk
