Q: If you are a victim of receiving counterfeit money, what do you do with it?

— Rick Brewer, Smyrna

A: If you suspect you have received a counterfeit note, follow these steps, according to the U.S. Secret Service's website (www.secretservice.gov):

  • Do not return it to the passer.
  • Delay the passer if possible.
  • Observe the passer's description, as well as that of any companions, and the license plate numbers of any vehicles.
  • Contact your local police department or U.S. Secret Service field office.
  • Write your initials and the date in the white border areas of the suspect note.
  • Limit the handling of the note. Carefully place it in a protective covering, such as an envelope.
  • Surrender the note or coin to a properly identified police officer or a U.S. Secret Service special agent.

Q: The 40th anniversary show of “The Price Is Right” was filled with former contestants. My husband and I both were contestants on the show. How did the former contestants know about this show?

—Mary Ruth Parham, Lilburn

A: During broadcasts, "The Price is Right" encouraged former contestants to submit stories of their appearances at www.priceisright.com, a CBS spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email. The show chose past contestants to fill the audience for its 40th anniversary show, which aired Sept. 4. "The Price Is Right" is the longest-running game show on TV, according to CBS.
