A number of roads and bridges in Henry County will be getting improvements with the help of about $2.3 million from the Georgia Department of Transportation through its Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant.

The latest LMIG application was approved for submission by the Henry County Board of Commissioners at its Dec. 3 regular meeting. A 30-percent local match amounting to $710,723 is required to receive the grant, according to county officials, and funds will be allocated through the county’s DOT asphalt budget. In a separate action, the board approved a bid for road improvements under the county’s SPLOST program.

Pittman Construction provided a low bid of $494,675 for reclamation, patching, milling and resurfacing of three roads: Archie Drive from Lake Dow Road to McGarity Drive; Thurman Road from East Atlanta Road to James Ridge Drive; and Panola Road from Fairview Road to Hwy. 155.
